A real-time clock (RTC) is an integrated circuit chip that keeps track of the current time even when the microcontroller is turned off. It is used in many kinds of MCU's, and is present in all modern MCU's. RTCs are also present in many embedded systems. Real-time clocks run on a special battery that is not connected to the normal power supply. RTC Board serves as extension of existing development boards for applications which need Real Time data. It can be easily connected by plug-in to connector on the right side of development board but can also be used as part of some other devices if required. Board is delivered with schematic and software examples. Using the RTC board is really simple - connect it to the development system, load an example and watch the results on LCD.
