LV 18FJ development system is a full-featured development board for the Microchip PIC18FxxJxx microcontrollers. It was designed to allow students or engineers to easily exercise and explore the capabilities of the PIC18FxxJxx microcontrollers. It allows the PIC microcontroller to be interfaced with external circuits to a broad range of the peripheral devices, allowing the user to concentrate just on the software.

Figure on the right illustrates the first contact with the development system. On a silkscreen there are marks beside every component. These marks describe connection to microcontroller, operation modes, and some other useful notes. As a result, need for additional schematics is minimized, because all information are already on the board.

The ICD debugger enables you to execute a mikroC/mikroPascal/mikroBasic program on a host PIC18FxxJxx microcontroller and view variable values, Special Function Registers (SFR), memory and EEPROM as the program is running.
LV 18FJ-Programmer: The microcontroller is connected to the LV 18FJ programmer via 5 lines, two of which are +3.3V and GND. Unlike programmers whose operation is based on bootloads, LV 18FJ programs the microcontroller externally so that the entire memory is available for the program. ICSP mode is a special programming protocol that allows you to read and write to PIC18FxxJxx device family memory. The ICSP interface is a 2-wire serial protocol implemented using the PGC and PGD pins. The PGC pin is used as a clock input pin and the clock source must be provided by the programmer. The PGD pin is used for sending command data to and receiving response data from the programming executive.
